For a long time, my biggest fear was failing in public. The idea of putting myself out there and falling flat on my face was the worst thing I could have imagined – until it happened and I survived. I was the program manager for a non-profit. I led the planning and execution of state-wide public meetings that brought political officials and business leaders together to fight for community progress. I had more wins than losses, but I remember the loss well.
Months of negotiations for what would have been an unprecedented gain for police and community relations fell flat when the Chief of Police decided to no-call, no-show. I was devastated. But, I picked my feelings up and worked through them; helping my team to pivot and show resilience in the face of disappointment.
Failure happens. At times, things do not go as planned. But, I’ve learned that even failure offers a road to success. I treat every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow beyond my fear; to live courageously and on purpose. By “letting [my] own light shine, [I] unconsciously give others permission to do the same.”
So far, my ‘light’ looks like being a wife to a wonderful husband, the mom of two vibrant little girls, the creatress of a womens’ empowerment movement, a poet, the author of a self-coaching workbook, the content curator for a podcast, and a brand strategist for entrepreneurs.
Coaching isn’t what I do. It’s who I am. And I love to coach people like you; people who are always striving to become better versions of themselves. People who are honest with themselves and are always willing to ask the question, “What’s next?” As your coach, we’ll find the answer together.
Let me help you overcome your fear so that you can let your light shine. Together, we will “Be Inspired and Be on Purpose.”
